Williston Gets Experimental Farm Station

The North Dakota legislature approved a bill by Representative Chapman to establish an experimental farm in Williston in coordination with Fargo Agricultural College. It provides 5000 dollars for establishment and 5000 dollars yearly for research, with an emergency clause taking effect immediately. President Worst and John Bruegger aided the effort, with locations to be surveyed for best suitability.

Schafer Wins County Seat Move Controversy

A Monday ruling by Judge Pollock from Fargo ends a fight over moving McKenzie county's seat from Alexander to Schafer. The decision denies a writ of prohibition against the move, allowing the county seat shift to proceed with possible appeal only on Monday. President's Order Further Modified

Senator McGumber has received many letters from North Dakota settlers protesting the president's order on homestead proofs. After consulting Interior Secretary Garfield and Land Commissioner Balling, the president modified the suspension order further. Local officers will issue final receipts and patent follow in regular order unless fraud is shown.

Legislators Adjourn as Tenth North Dakota Assembly Closes

In Bismarck on March 8 the House adjourned sine die at 11 45 pm after Speaker Twitchell’s gavel signaled the final motion. John Sorley led the adjournment following customary committee visits to the governor. In the Senate the adjournment vote occurred at 11 30 pm with formality marking the end of the session.

Legislature Adjourns After Long Session in Bismarck

The senate adjourned without date after a long session. The tenth assembly is seen as strong overall with public support for most measures. The two cent rate bill was increased to two and a half cents with a thousand mile family book at twenty dollars. The anti pass bill died in conference. Williams and McKenzie counties form a new district with one senator and two representatives.

McKay Brothers Open New Drug Store on Main Street

C H and F H McKay have opened a new drug store on lower Main street the first of the week. The fitted up shop ranks among the finest in the city. The McKay brothers previously operated in Glenburn for several years in the drug business.
