Winston-Salem Declared World's Leading Tobacco Town
Col A D Watts in Winston-Salem address praises the city for producing and exporting vast tobacco quantities. He notes Winston-Salem accounts for a large share of U S chewing and smoking tobacco, cigars, cigarettes and snuff, with high daily revenue taxes and rapid cost recovery on a new government building. He predicts weekly tobacco taxes will more than cover the building’s cost, while praising industrial and social prominence locally and globally.

Which Are You A Prose Poem Of Winter And Fear
A fragmentary playful verse contrasts human flaws with virtues while joking about seasons and social traits. It pairs moral caricatures with a seasonal lament for warmth and comfort, ending with a call to prepare for war in peacetime.
Remarks on government, reformers and public monuments
Elbert Bee comments on government jobs shaping citizenship and the restraint of public anger by banquets. He notes Mexico's stable government may fade if Carranza seeks the presidency for a horse, and reflects on reform support, memory, and the value of monuments. He also jokes about Europe and American industry and muses on fitting legacy through worthy deeds.
