Williston's Largest Class Graduates in 1915 Commencement

The largest Williston school class to date received diplomas at a Friday evening commencement in the Congregational church. An overfilled program featured Onstad Orchestra, invocations by Rev H Styles Harriss, vocal and instrumental numbers, two class ovations, Valedictorian Elsie M Sutton, and Dr Frank C English delivering the commencement address on The Power of Education to Increase Values. The Board of Education and Supt White presented diplomas, with Rev Monson offering the benediction.

Having Big Time at Forks

Williston and Williams county residents traveled to Grand Forks for the degree ceremonies with about 400 expected to graduate. The new Grand Forks temple cost 200000, seats 850, and will host a banquet and meals daily as ceremonies proceed.

Quiet Wedding in Williston and Final Citizenship Hearings

A quiet wedding occurred Friday June 4 at the Methodist church in Williston as Harry Smith and Miss Lottie Lund were joined in marriage by Rev I Harriss. The couple plan to reside in Williston. Next Saturday applicants face hearings for final citizenship with 62 awaiting action. Deadline to file for October final citizenship is October 4.

Hypocrites or Truth Photodrama at Orpheum and party

A four part photodrama Hypocrites explores honesty and virtue in modern life praised by critics and starring Lois Weber. The film covers political graft, adulterous love and the facade of moral modesty with Truth as a character. Exhibitions begin Monday June 14 with matinee and night showings. Also notes a birthday party for five year old Mary Ryerson hosted by Mr and Mrs Matt Ryerson at their Muddy home.

Watkins Ready to Fight Bootlegging Bill

Watkins, executive officer of the State Enforcement League, said no steps would be taken to referend the bootlegging bill until Secretary of State Hall officially reports the signer count. If Hall confirms sufficiency, a move may be made to delay the bill beyond the next general election. The signers' sufficiency could trigger verification and a possible contest only on this bill.

Husebye Buys Out Ellithorpe in Miner Deal

J A Husebye closed a deal with C Ellithorpe last Friday buying his interests in the Ellithorpe Husebye coal mine. The operation will be renamed the Northwestern Fuel Company Mine and major improvements are planned, including a new side entrance to replace the shaft and hoisting machinery.

Garden Valley School Exercises End of Term Program

Monday night the Garden Valley school held its closing exercises in the school house filled to capacity. An auto party from town including Mr. and Mrs. Brownson and several Misses contributed to the program and praised Miss Alberta Francis for her pupils. Mrs. Siewert assisted musically as Miss Francis, who devoted much time, could not attend to see the results.
