Great Rains Bring Hope Across Sections and States

Williams county reports several good rains this week easing drought and saving grain, with parades partially rained on but spirits high. Weather figures for Williston North Dakota show a week ending June 6 with 0.61 inches of precipitation and temperatures from 52 to 71 past five years’ extremes. In North Dakota rainfall from Dickinson to Jamestown ranged from half to over two inches, aiding crops after a dry spell, while southern areas benefited most and the Red River Valley saw lighter totals but adequate showers.

Near Fatal Auto Wreck Sunday Near Alexander

Last Sunday afternoon Rob Evans Robi Boushman and Mike Needoff from Williston escaped death when their car skidded in a rut and rolled three times between Alexander and Rawson near the railroad crossing. They suffered dislocated shoulders scratches and bruises. The vehicle was a complete wreck. They were taken to Alexander for treatment and are healing. All say they are lucky to be alive and are glad only to endure minor injuries.

Ray Man Enlists for U S Army Recruiting Service

C M Driver of Ray volunteers for U S Army recruiting work as war with Germany begins. He rents farms north of the city and arranges his city residence for his absence while he departs for Aberdeen South Dakota to finalize plans. A farewell at I C O F lodge precedes his departure with speeches and music.

North Dakota Illinois Picnic Planned at Williston

Final arrangements are made for the first annual picnic of the North Dakota Montano Illinois Association to be held June 20 at the Sub-Experiment Station in Williston North Dakota. Committees on arrangement program and entertainment are active and a grand time is assured for all attendees. Every former resident of Illinois is invited. Do not forget the date June 20.

Sunday Schools of Williams Co Have Great Meet

The Williams County Bible School Convention at Williston June 2 3 drew large rural turnout. Talks stressed organized action cooperation and “something to do” with Miss Lucy Torson Rev J T Miller and J C Garrison delivering practical talks. Officers elected include Albert Fischer R M Calderwood Bertha Palmer and Rev J C Forster. A resolutions report praised hospitality band county officers and efforts to curb vice while urging nationwide prohibition and forwarding copies to listed officials. Steam heated rooms advertised for offices or light housekeeping at the Graphic office.

Williston Churches Unite in Summer Union Services

Williston churches plan summer unity services starting next Sunday with Methodist and Congregational alternation. Batten of the Congregational church preaches 10 30 A M in the Methodist church, and Harriss away two months. studies in National Psychology titled America the Spirit of World Democracy at 8 P M in Congregational church. Bible schools continue at 11 45 A M. Children’s Day program set. baptism notices invited. Strangers welcome.

MISS PALMER SPEAKS AT RURAL CONFERENCE

Registrations pour in from North Dakota and Minnesota for the Sunday School Convention to be held in Fargo in June 2022. Delegates from Eddy County plan a special Great Northern coach. F. H. Beckwith of Albany New York will headline the Rural Conference with multiple sessions. Martial music and a parade of thousands mark the event with bands from Fargo MeVille and Detroit joining, while New Rockford arranges a special car for its delegates.
