Record crowds mark San Diego Exposition attendance surge

San Diego Exposition posts the third largest monthly attendance since January with June totaling 166 135 and a daily average of 5537. Concert by Mme Schumann Heink drew 20000, and hopes rise to near one million visitors by new celebratory events. Roosevelt plans a July visit amid Rough Riders escort, parade plans and convention crowds.

Many Arrests Made Saturday in City Action

Thirty two warrants issued late last week led to twelve arrests Saturday night by four detectives working with the States Attorney office. Officers had been in the city since July but required sufficient evidence for conviction. Bootlegging and liquor related charges prevailed with several named suspects bound over on bonds. Some cases were dismissed and more arrests expected this week amid Mexico unrest.

Six Hundred Now at Work on Twin City Motor Speedway

Minneapolis reports an extra two hundred workers bringing total construction staff to six hundred for the Twin City Motor Speedway project. A quarter mile of pavement is laid as heavy stands take shape and the September 4 opening 500 mile race nears. T E Myers returns to supervise speedway week and tickets go on sale at Minneapolis St Paul offices and Dykmann hotel. Dr C E Dutton leads club organization and tours across Minnesota and nearby states. A trophy will be awarded to the club with most machines in line based on mileage. Editor Mumby Dead in Auto Crash and Septic Pyaemia

William Rozella Mumby known as Old Bill a leading state editor died Sunday in Williston after an auto accident followed by septicemia. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev. Morriss officiating. He was born in Wisconsin in 1860 and had lived in Luford St Paul Buford and Fairview. He left eight surviving children and a wide circle of newspaper colleagues.
