Community Club Organized In Williston

A Community Club was organized at the Court House on Tuesday with Prof. C. E. Blume as President and N. B. Sudanese as Secretary. The group plans four state-supported programs yearly from Jamestown and aims to secure the Williston Armory as a community meeting place to serve residents and visiting towns.

Webb Makes Record Run With Ford Lizzie

Webb M C Webb of Williston completed a long Westward trip in a Ford showing a remarkable endurance run. He drove from Great Falls to Williston via Haynes and Poplar with a 8 by 12 tent camping gear, 2 heavy suitcases and a full outfit. He left Great Falls July 11 and reached Williston July 12 covering 455 miles in 23 hours 45 minutes with 21 2 thirds miles per hour average.

Tyrone Red Cross Holds Meeting at Williston Area Farm

Tyrone Red Cross held an enthusiastic Sunday meeting at the E C Lucas Farm, 14 miles north of Williston. Williston speakers including Asher of Minot delivered the principal address. Prof C E Blume, Rev Hitchcock, Edwin A Palmer and C C Rieger also spoke. A ladies’ lunch followed. Mr Kurry was unable to attend. Mr and Mrs B J Schoregge of Williston visit the capital this week with related duties.

Germans push gains south of the Marne in heavy fighting

Special war news reports a strenuous German effort to outflank Rheims and enlarge gains south of the Marne while American and French forces counterattack. The battle at Chateau Thierry yields no material German progress as Kaiser's watchful eye follows events near Rheims. Quentin Roosevelt may be dead or a prisoner. The Allies counterattack between the Aisne and Marne advances steadily.

Farm Bureau to Meet July 23 at Court House

The Farm Bureau Board of Directors and community chairman will meet at the Court House on July 23 at 2 PM to discuss winter feed for cattle and set a uniform wage scale for harvest. They will also select a county agent to replace Mr Hall who leaves to join the extension department.

Williston Banker Marries In Quiet Tioga Ceremony

Williston banker William Davidson and Olive Evans were married by Rev. T T Galligher at the Methodist parsonage yesterday afternoon. Miss Nell Davidson attended the bride and Clarence Drake served as best man. The couple will live in Williston after a brief honeymoon spent at points east. Davidson is cashier at First National Bank and a prominent local businessman.

The Federal Land Bank president E G Quamme visited the county July 6 and 7, giving talks in Williston Wildrose and Ray. He spoke on cooperation in broad terms, contrasting individual liberty with socialism, and traced historical growth from the open land era to modern economic pressures.

French Flag Flies in Williston on Bastile Day

Walter Shikany of Williston reports a slight left shoulder wound from a machine gun in June after fourteen days in the trenches. He is recovering at a U.S. hospital near the front and expects to return to trench duty soon.
