Williston Water Deep and Local Crops Grow Strong

Pusch and Eugene Swisher transact business in Williston last Saturday. Mr. Redding struck water at 45 feet with good flow of fine water. A nice rain Sunday boosts farmers prospects for late grain, potatoes, corn, hay and pasture. Williams county celebrates incoming settlers and calls for more farmers to plant trees and improve homes. Mr. and Mrs. Rostvold attended a Lutheran Synod picnic at Morman. Mr. and Mrs. Arnt visited Pleasant Hill farm with its fine grove. A surprise party for Mr. Conrad's birthday drew twenty guests, with Mrs. Conrad praised for cooking. The Conrads and son Charles moved from Walkerton Ind to a new home and are rapidly farming a large land tract. The community welcomes more farmers to build up the country.

Pleasant Hill locals report rain helping late crops and haying beginning. Ben Brekke moved to Ray for steady work with his family visiting from Devils Lake guest Signora Dahl returned home from two months with Mrs. Floyd Trumbo. Gambetta and Garden Valley Ball Teams Prep

The Gambetta and Garden Valley players formed a single ball team for a game on the school grounds one mile east of Higley’s ranch. Squires planned to play last Sunday but rain halted them. a game is hoped for next Sunday the 17th. A dance is set at Albrechts a mile north of Higley’s ranch on Saturday night July 16. Isaac Dicher and wife welcomed a baby girl. L O Higley is boring a well on his ranch. Chas Van Trees remodeled his shack. Emma Wediman had a caller. Garden Valley trip on the 4th brought good times.

A Friday dance by ball boys raised funds for ball suits intended for each participant. Proceeds from the event will be used to equip the players with new attire.

Bonetrailers Celebrate Fourth With Races Dancing and Speeches

Marmonites joined a Bonetrail Fourth celebration featuring races tug of war ball games dancing and a show of lemonade cigars candies and ices. Two speeches were given by P. J. Hoy and Husebye while Williston visitors and local residents noted friendly arrivals and a rush of lightening rod agents including Dodd Struthers and Roy Dillree and Gunder Loken.

Rothville Sunday School Dinner Aids New Organ Fund

The Rothville Sunday school held a dinner at Mr. Eckert's for the election on the 39. Proceeds, labeled dirty dollars, were to fund a new organ. Thanks are extended to the boys and helping ladies. Mr. Nelson's family welcomed a baby girl. The area enjoys good wells and strong water. A recent rain saved the wheat crop after a drought.

Spring Coulee Farming Boosted by Rain and Encouragement

Spring Coulee crops look better after rain and farmers feel encouraged. Mrs. Hyatt visited friends in town and Mrs. Frank Fitch and daughter Lucille called on relatives. Rev. Hollett of Williston will preach here next Sunday the 17th at 2 o'clock. Miss Holbrook called at Mrs. Hyatt's Tuesday.

Grandmother Gibb Dies at Home in Williston

Mrs Elizabeth Gibb known as Grandmas Gibb died Saturday morning at her Williston home aged as an old age. Funeral was held Sunday at the Catholic Church with Rev James Arsenault officiating. A longtime Williston resident, she had lived in the city for about thirty years. Advertiser note mentions Roth Brothers canned goods with a money back guarantee.

Blind Tiger Raider Etherington Lynched After Newark Riot

Kentuckian Carl Etherington, 23, a former strikebreaker and proprietor of a blind tiger raider, was hanged in Licking county Newark Ohio after a day of rioting over the death of William Howard. Mob violence battered jail doors, Etherington prayed and tried to burn his coat, then swung for about an hour as the crowd dispersed. Howard died from a gunshot at his Last Chance restaurant during a raid. The dry law tensions rose as officials blamed negligence in enforcing the Ross option, with a quiet city morgue and no further disturbances reported.

Beaton July 9 The 48th annual National Education Association convention closed with the election of Mrs. Hila Fisgg Young as president marking the first woman to hold the post.
