Plans for a new hotel by Gibbs and Speng, former Arlington Hotel buyers, call for a nine story brick structure about 110 feet deep on the site of the current hotel. Saturday evening a large group of Valparaiso College alumni gathered at the Grillie cafe for a royal reception and banquet despite weather and train service issues. About 21 attendees heard talks praising the alma mater, with plans formed to organize a Valpo alumni association and annual banquets to keep old ties strong. The event featured musical selections and tributes from Dr. Dochterman, M. A. Oleon, Guy Stearns, Harry Gibbs, Arthur Wilkins, Edythe Hensley, S. W. Ray, Mrs. Ray, and Attorney Palmer, who was elected vice president.
