Acquitted Man Targeted by Gunmen After Verdict
Minneapolis dispatch reports Dean La Roche, acquitted of murdering Charles Gurin, was shot at four hours after the jury verdict near his St Paul home. Two men on the threshold fled after the shot missed. An Italian-sounding assailant fired. a gray hat was found. La Roche, under police protection, left for Minneapolis. His attorney warned of threats to his life. The Hofbrau killing was ruled self defense, with La Roche claiming he was attacked by Gurin’s associates.
