McCumber Submits Pension Bills for Taft Review
Senator McCumber of North Dakota, chair of the pension committee, reports three pension bills to President Taft for consideration. His bill seeks 17 million dollars, Sulloway’s 50 million, Curtis 60 million, and Dick several millions more. The president will assess treasury conditions before commenting. The House military affairs committee added 770 thousand for field artillery and the army appropriation bill totals 92,811,986, a reduction from the earlier estimate. The bill also allocates 17,200 for land at Dead Man’s Creek to safeguard Fort Meade’s water supply in South Dakota.

Ernest P. Graling aged twenty six died at Dr. Bely’s home on Monday afternoon from epileptic fits. His father in Buford was told and arranged to bring the body home for burial. Funeral services were held yesterday under Rev. I. B. March at West View cemetery. He suffered past railroad injuries and head trauma. two brothers and a sister survive him.
