Accidently Shot Knee Wounds Fred Rhoda in Saddle Incident

Fred Rhoda accidentally shot himself in the knee on Saturday while saddling a horse. A large 44 revolver discharged from the saddle holster, inflicting a painful wound. Costello carried him to Minot for treatment. though serious, losing the leg is not expected. Rhoda is well known in Williston and has many friends.

Williams County Board of Health Urges Smallpox Precaution

Infected districts threaten Williams County with smallpox via direct commercial connections. Quarantine notices should be posted where needed to deter entry of people from infected areas under penalty of law. Parents urged to vaccinate all children, especially students, to curb spread. Lund returns to city after three months away

Roelius Lund arrives Sunday night from Williston where he rested three months with the Great Northern Railway Company. The band boys welcome him as their former solo cornet man and he plans to teach nearby Minot this winter. William Snyder debuts a new hot soda fountain at five cents a glass with best favors.

The Wil-Maton weather report for 1900 notes a mean barometer of 27.98 inches, high of 28.05 on December 8, and low of 27.18 on December 21. Mean temperature 42, with a yearly high of 104 on August 1 and low of 36.1 on February 9. There were 19 days above 90 and 172 below 32, 22 clear days, 99 partly cloudy, 37 cloudy, 38 snowy days, 6 foggy days, and 15 thunderstorm days. Total precipitation 15.48 inches and unmelted snow depth 30 inches. Heaviest rainfall in 24 hours was 3.42 inches on August 0te and 10th. Total wind miles 84,280 with prevailing direction north, maximum velocity 50 miles per hour from the northwest on November 9. 18 days with gales 40 mph or more. Mean wind speed 10 mph. Writ of Certiorari Sought Over Gambling Tools Burned in Paterson Case

Miller & Miller prepare papers for the supreme court of the state to seek a writ of certiorari in Bismarck. The judge's order to burn gambling tools from the Paterson and Sanderson case is under challenge. The application will be filed in Bismarck on Tuesday. Arguments to follow after the writ is issued.
