Oil inspection law ruled invalid by state supreme court
Bismarck N D January 8 the state supreme court upheld an injunction against the state and barred collection of the oil inspection fee ruling that if the fee exceeds cost of inspection it is invalid under US supreme court precedents. The Bartles Northern Oil Co of Grand Forks initiated the action. no fees have been collected since July 1 totaling about one hundred thousand. The decision may prompt legislative amendments to align the law with constitutional rights.
