A wedding send off for Mr. Jos Donahue and Miss Shea nearly ended in disaster. Loyd Shannon rode a bucking ox and was dragged, trampled, and run over by a Bruegger auto truck. He suffered three fractured ribs and a skull fracture but began recovering at a hospital.
A six part illustrated lecture series from January 22 will tour the world with topics including China Turkey India and the Diamond Fields of Dixie. The Christian Lauren Slide and Lecture Bureau of Chicago presents the course with church hosts Pastor Shaw and Wickard. Season tickets cost one dollar for adults and seventy five cents for children with single admissions 25 and 16 cents. Proceeds go to the sponsoring churches.

In Paso, Texas, January 7, reports describe rebels executed by hanging along telegraph poles between Mexico City and Toluca. Thirty-one rebels were left as a warning, part of 91 executions including noted leaders accused of looting villages and ranches.
A 1918 pledge drives Williston citizens to prosperity health and happiness. At a packed Commercial Club gathering Vice President M J Borden directs plans for a greater Williston with Mayor Jackson highlighting the club’s past accomplishments and urging support for a new railroad and a cleaned up Fair Association.
W R Casey, held in Minot on a murder charge in the Karl Hanson killing at Kenmare on November 29, was found not connected to the crime. Released last Saturday, he was taken by Deputy Sheriff Jurstad for crimes in Williams county. Casey had previously been jailed for robbing a woman at the circus grounds last August, broke jail, and two escapees followed. one was recaptured and Casey was the second to be caught, with both now back in jail.

Mayor Jackson will address the joint meeting of the State Tax Association and the State Municipal League in Grand Forks on January 16. The conference will discuss assessment and taxation methods in the state and marks the fifth in a series held in North Dakota.
J R Schuttnecht of the First National Bank travels to Minneapolis for his marriage to Miss Marie Schietzel, daughter of the Mill City family. The couple plan to return and settle in Williston after the ceremony.
Grand Forks reports former Rugby mayor H C Launder now in Minot as head of E J Lander & Co is named as defendant in a $20,000 damage suit by Frank Tufford alleging alienation of his wife’s affections. Mrs Tufford seeks divorce on cruel and inhuman treatment. Tufford is a former Rugby police chief appointed by Launder when mayor. The answer is due today with a general denial.
Judge Charles F. Templeton, 56, died in a Grand Forks hospital at 6 a.m. after a kidney illness. Appointed attorney general for the territory in 1887, he later served as judge of the Eighth Judicial district, was reelected in 1889 and 1893, and resumed practice in Grand Forks in 1897 after Judy Fisk moved to the supreme bench.
Newly elected county commissioners with the overhanging member have organized with P. A. Hegge as Chairman. They begin auditing officers and swearing in new appointees while pushing county business forward in rapid-fire order. The latest fact noted is hygienic marriages sweeping other issues from public view.
Lawrence Bolsoe near Squires owns a Shorthorn cow that gave birth to three calves on January 4. He reports all three calves are robust and healthy. The cow was bought last fall for $40.00.
State Enforcement league plans to push two bills in the current session. The Wineman liquor inspection law would place a state inspector and deputies under gubernatorial appointment to track liquor coming into the state. It would require railway officials to deliver duplicate receipts to the inspector, aiding enforcement of prohibition and identification of violators.
A fishing or work team perished when they fell through thin ice on a river near Nesson last Monday. The team’s owner could not be identified. The crossing was attempted soon after the river was closed for winter, and this was the first group to attempt the crossing.
More than 1500 Republicans from across the nation gathered at the Waldorf Astoria in New York for a rehabilitation banquet. They cheered their resolve to battle for victory four years hence as President Taft outlined the progressive party principles.
