Last Saturday evening the Sons of Norway held a full success banquet at I. O. O. F. hall with a musical program by A. J. Staine Ole Johnson CG A. Goulson Karen Brende and Gertrude Lee. About 150 guests enjoyed a turkey feast and patriotic Norwegian decor followed by dancing after a lively refreshment hour.
The December figures rise from November with a total circulation of 1377 books, notable since the library has been open eight months. Readable titles include Caleb Trench, Fraulein Schmidt and Mr Anstruther, Barbara Winslow Rebel, Young Folks History of Rome, Captain Chap, Billy Topsail and other youth adventures.
William Lester faced district court after a Friday hearing before Justice Field. State evidence, led by States Attorney Braatelsen, satisfied the hearing requirement, with bonds set at $500 each and posted. Charles Bates testified he recently bought liquor from Lester, supporting the bound over for a district court hearing.
K of P lodge at Castle Hall held a Monday evening installation with Deputy Grand Chancelor John Bruegger presiding. Chancelor Commander Alexander and officers performed the high merit work as the lodge reports over 100 active members and growing applications.
The Young People's Society of Hauge's Synod will hold a basket social at West Lawn church next Wednesday evening January 10. The Ladies Aid will conduct a sale of fancy and useful articles during the event. Everyone is invited to attend.
Dr Distad has dissolved partnership with Dr Hagan and opened his office in the Heffernan building over Green gard Bros store. Dr Hagan will continue to occupy the former firm office.
The Civic League postponed the Japanese evening planned for tonight at the Library Assembly Room to Monday evening. The Associated Charities directors and officers will meet Tuesday Jan 9 at the residence 0 Ps rea Db. Interesting reports for the past three months will be presented, and all friends of the association are invited to attend.
The Reverend Father Macdougal cousin to Primus John Forbes Robertson preached at St Peter's Episcopal church Sunday evening. A missionary for 26 years in northern Canada he now returns to Scotland to become a parish rector. He will preach again next Sunday in Festal services observed during the Octave of Epiphany with processions and sermons on immortality and hell.
The United States Civil Service announces a June 17 18 1912 examination to fill vacancies for clerk positions qualified in law, stenography and typewriter at 1000 dollars per year. Inquiries may be made to Clayton Newton at Williston Post Office or to J M Shoemaker secretary St Paul Minnesota.
Miss Reba Rawson entertained several friends on Friday night for her Minot house guest Miss Erma Jones. About twenty guests enjoyed the evening with stunts and a mystic cobweb game. Cledith Evans won best fisherman and Edward Craven took the game prize amid mistletoe decor and elegant refreshments.
Miss Mabel Greengard hosts a Tuesday evening gathering for several young ladies with a card session and a musical program. Guests of honor include Miss Zelda Gordon and Miss Erma Jones from Minot. Refreshments were served during the pleasant evening.

District court convicts Wed nesday with Judge Frank Fisk presiding and trial details center on Melvin Howe charged with grand larceny. The defense appointed E A Palmer for Charles Melvin with jurors drawn from a panel including A Petersson and A T Brown. The case traces a horse theft from McKenzie county to J R Hughes and Andrew Onstad, with stenographic evidence debated and the trial continuing.
Dr and Mrs N Myklestad hosted about twenty guests on New Years Eve 1912 for a dinner described as old fashioned and hearty The host aims to keep New Years sacred to friends and plans to continue the custom with annual Ya party on that occasion
The Chi Sigma girls hosted a leap year dance at I C C F Hall Monday evening with about forty five couples. Arsenault's orchestra provided music until midnight. Afterward, guests visited the G N case for desserts and treats while some reportedly enjoyed Anna Held cigars, though no evidence reached any justice court. Mrs A G Jacobson and her little daughter left Saturday to visit relatives in Minneapolis.
Moves tailor business from opposite the Great Northern hotel to 118 Main street in the former Fred Southard land office room. Rooms painted and overhauled, touted as among the best tailoring rooms in the city. Also reports infant death of William Heywood and wife’s child from convulsions on way home from Alexander visit. Funeral services scheduled Friday. Misses Carrie Hauge and Jane Nystront of Fargo were New Year guests of Miss Gertrude Dabman.
State Attorney Braatelien leads a full investigation into city books aided by City Attorney Murphy Mayor Jackson City Auditor Schoregze ex mayors Bruexter Wegley and council. Will T. Pow statements will be carefully reviewed by the pardon board. No sensational findings yet. results may take days.
Grant EK Harland of the Raw son Hardware Co leaves for Minneapolis on No 2 with plans to spend two months visiting his parents and friends in the Twin Cities. He has talked about the trip for some time and surpasses rival clans in cheer as departure arrives.
Frank Rines appears at the Methodist church next Thursday evening at eight. He is a rapid sketch artist a good vocalist and an excellent storyteller. Press and pulpit unite in praising his work. Admission is twenty five and fifteen cents.
Customer notice states ongoing pricing for billiards at Great Northern Pool Hall Dap Hapip, Prop. Fifteen ball games cost five cents each. over fifteen balls ten cents per game or five cents per cue. Three player pool ten cents per game. Rotation two players two and a half cents per cue and three players ten cents per game. Prices apply until further notice.
The condition of Mrs. F S Hollett is no better after another operation performed on Wednesday.
Charles W. Lumber recently in charge of the University library at Grand Forks will deliver the principal address at the opening of Minot’s new library building and will also speak in Williston on January 7 in the basement library auditorium on The Spirit of Modern Library Development under the Library board auspices and the public is invited.
