Rear End Collision Involves Fast Freight Trains No 401 and No 1143
Fast freight No 401 passing through at 9 am collided with extra freight No 1143 one and a half miles west of Trogy. No 1148 was attempting to pass when the crash occurred. Engineer Martin of No 401 states No 1148 had the lead and a defective cylinder caused limited sight. Fireman Branner restrained the crew. both escaped injury. The impact hurled No 1148’s caboose into the second car and lifted the first onto the engine.
