New Trial Granted in Becker Murder Case by Supreme Court
New York February 24 Charles Becker who was convicted last December of Herman Rosenthal’s murder and sentenced to die by electric chair will receive a new trial. The court’s ruling follows arguments in December over the admissibility of Hardy Lewis statements. Beckers attorneys had pressed for a new trial since early December noting Terome overheard the telephoned conversation and disputes the quotes. Becker has awaited execution in Sing Sing since January as his wife and mother faced personal tragedy.

St Paul Feb 28 Carl M H Gray resigns March 1 from Great Northern presidency to become president of the St Louis and San Francisco railway as soon as the Frisco passes from receivers. The move, announced in St Louis, follows Gray’s Chicago trip for talks with Frisco officials and receivers. The Frisco reorganiza tion is expected to be completed by year end. Receivers are Luske Riddle and Nixon. Gray began as a telegraph operator with the Frisco and rose to senior vice president before leaving in 1911.
