Miner dies after alley quarrel in Grenora

Frank Palmer is jailed on manslaughter charges after a Grenora fight between Palmer and miner John Stensmo. Stensmo, 1st vertebra fracture, died. Palmer waived examination and was bound over. two recruits to U S Army named Lyndon Foster and Bryan Doughty. Band to give free Sunday concerts at the Armory at 3:30 PM with a second concert next week.

Narrowly Escape Fire Trap Death in Minneapolis Hotel

Mr and Mrs Harry Jensen survived a fatal hotel fire in Minneapolis after a fourth floor leap to a life net and a rescue by firefighters. The Kenwood hotel fire left at least 13 missing and many injured as cold temperatures hampered evacuations and responders.

Soldiers Coming Tonight Plans Maturing for Good Show

Soldiers from Company E travel by special train across the state to Williston with arrival expected late tonight or early morning. They will be greeted at the station, fed at Odd Fellows hall, and attended by a lyceum concert, then a reception. Community events urge flags and festive turnout for the soldiers reception. Definite Plans For Night School

A meeting is called in the high school auditorium on Monday night February 19 for all interested in any form of night school work. The aim is to provide night classes for all, with no obligation to attend. Courses may include English for foreigners, sociology, psychology, Shakespeare, Browning, arithmetic, spelling, stenography, typewriting, and commercial work, funded by a small tuition fee to cover textbooks and teaching costs.
