In a Calderwood building barber shop on Main Street Seymour Washington, a colored porter attacked Mike O Neil with a pocket knife during a joshing dispute. O Neil was slashed across the left ribs with two deep wounds that could have been fatal. Washington wrestled for the knife until three men restrained him. He was jailed after waiving exam and held on $500 bond. Washington previously served time for assault linked to a boxing title event dispute and has prior police records marking him as undesirable.
