Actor D A Clayton a vaudeville performer at the Star last week died Saturday in the Great Northern hotel from stomach cancer. The Masonic order conducted the funeral in Williston cemetery. He was forty three, had twenty seven years in acting, and worked three years with Frank Rick. He arrived January twenty six and fell ill after Friday’s performance. He leaves a wife, an actress in New York City.

Gang Arrest in Montana Cattle Theft Ring Exposed
Helens Montana February 3 a large cattle theft ring led by William Biggs with Canadian French and Indian associates is broken up by stock inspector George Twible. Arrests include a white man and several Indians. Authorities report long range thefts across open range to be sold on commission and at camps and towns near the Missouri river. Evidence includes the heads of thirty four cattle found in a thicket.

Confession Story Lacks Proof in McKenzie Murder hearing
Lakota February 4. A preliminary hearing failed to link Louis Summerfield to the Kenneth McKenzie murder. The only testimony was a father’s account of a dying statement by Sperry claiming two assailants and a kerosene fire. Sperry’s sensational confession was not supported, and he reportedly has “gone wrong.” The State rested and Summerfield was dismissed.
