Beach North Dakota December 17 A restraining order against the Billings County auditor halts certification of the Golden Valley and Slope county separation. Insurgent and stalwart factions clash over commissioners as contests head to the courts.
The Helping Hand Society will host a Christmas tree and service at the Palmer Schoolhouse on December 23 with an inviting program and open invitation to all community members.
The North Dakota botany department issues Circular No. 28 to elevator firms and growers, urging careful seed grain handling and best flax cropping methods to protect the crop as an agricultural asset. It rebuts the idea that flax harms soil fertility, noting long experimental work and aims to aid farmers in managing flax cropping amid past difficulties.
Farmers urged to adopt seed selection, seed bed formation, and seed treatment to reduce fungal diseases and boost yield. Requesting regional lists of farmers and half pound seed samples for testing, with offers to send regular flax culture bulletins from H. L. Bolley at North Dakota Agricultural College.

Mrs. Harry McKay hosted a six o clock dinner Saturday for ten young ladies in honor of Miss Harriett Wilkinson who left Sunday for Spokane. The room featured red and green decor, red candles and carnations with ferns and decorative place cards. The guests presented Miss Wilkinson with a traveling manicure set. Attending were Misses Ahlers Rawson Zohm Toftley Hagan Stonebery McGlinch Carlson and Sherrin.
Oscar Burgin of Williston and Margaret J. Elliott of Angie were married at the Congregational parsonage on Friday afternoon December 16 with Rev. W. Knighton Bloom officiating. Horace E. Peterson of White Earth and Estelle Mae Watts of Buford also wed at the same time and place.
Cornelius O Kelly hailed as the white man s hope by Tommy Ryan who has coached him six months He will sail for England next week to fight Bombardier Wells and if he wins Ryan plans tougher bouts O Kelly stands six feet four inches and weighs 225 pounds with promise for future success.
Beecher Malone a 12 year old boy from near Williston walked about forty miles to Bismarck and was found noon Thursday after leaving home Tuesday morning. He had no food since departure and slept in a hay stack Tuesday night. His father brought him home Friday morning.
State lignite tests near Hebron show three tons of mine run lignite yield one ton of briquettes with heating value equal to top anthracite. Briquetting dries lignite and captures gas for heat and power, producing steady burns. Undried lignite carries high moisture and extra freight, while drying enables better fuel value.
The Williston State Bank was purchased by Simon Westby A J Stafne and S M Hydle. The deal closed Monday and the bank moved into a new building across the street and began operations at nine o clock Tuesday. Westby Stafne and Hydle serve as president vicepresident and cashier respectively and all three are directors. The new quarters feature fine fixtures and a handsome appearance. The investors are well known in Williston and nearby areas and expect to gain banking business.
Elsie L. Hart and pupils held a Box social at the Palmer school Friday evening. About eighty people attended and joined in a spelling contest. Miss Zella Francis led the older group while some of her class noted they had not participated in a spelling school for ten to fifteen years.
The winter meeting of the North Dakota Press Association will be held in Grand Forks on January 20 and 21. A job work exhibit will be introduced, with prizes for best exhibits. About 60 percent of state publishers are members, and a Franklin club auxiliary meeting will also occur.
On Christmas Sunday the Congregational Church hosts morning and evening choral services with special selections. Morning features a duet by Mrs. Hardaway and Mr. Currie and an anthem by Mrs. J. N. Page and choir. Evening choir singings include Christmas hymns led by a double quartet, mile quartet, and soprano solo by Mrs. Hardaway.
