Better Roads for Williams County

At the November session the Board of County Commissioners focused on Better Roads for Williams County and methods to finance them. They argued current road taxes are inadequate, with a 1916 road levy around 25000 dollars barely addressing needs over 35 by 55 mile rural area. A sinking fund via bonds, up to five percent of assessed value, would fund trunk highways and improve cross roads, with local taxpayers sharing costs. The plan requires a special election and outreach to townships, aiming to boost trade, development, and land values through better roads.
