Rev M D Wickard Dies After Short Illness
Revered pastor Rev M D Wickard of the Williston Methodist church died about 6 30 pm Monday August 4 after a brief illness of kidney trouble. He had just returned from a Canada vacation with Mrs Wickard and planned union services with Rev Shaw. Born July 14 1879 at Maxwell Iowa he served Churches Ferry before Williston and raised the local church to prominence. Survived by wife Laura Knots Wickard three brothers and his mother, funeral at 10 am in the Method ist church with pastors Vermilyas Rines Asher and Shaw officiating. The city’s business houses closed for the service.

The July summary by Observer John Craig reports 2.48 inches of rainfall, far above the 3.29 inches in the same month last year. Rainfall this July was the highest since 1903 aside from 1912, with 1.19 inches on July 4. There were sixteen clear days, ten partly cloudy, five cloudy, winds from the north totaling 6215 miles, max 41 mph on the 29th, five thunderstorms, and temperatures ranging from 42 to 92 degrees.

Large Acreage Restored After Federal Land Review
Six million acres withdrawn from public lands were restored to entry during May and June after approval by the Secretary of the Interior on Geological Survey recommendations. Two Hurt in Auto Accident Near Trenton
Mrs. Kate Thompson of Minot suffered a broken hip and was trapped when the car she rode in overturned on a hill near Trenton Sunday evening. She was taken to Williston by train for hospital care. Austin Johanna, who was underneath the vehicle, was not seriously injured and the engine had failed shortly before the crash.

New Electric Shop Opens in Williston by Munz
A new electrical shop opens in Williston in the Singer Sewing Machine space at 16 West Broadway. Munz of Minot will run general electrical contracting and stock supplies, moving from Devils Lake and Minot. E. M. Thompson oversees operations until Munz arrives.
