A Black man identified as the assailant of Mrs John Smith was captured after a gunfight with a posse near Poller Ga. He was brought back to Pembroke and hanged from a telegraph pole. his body was riddled with bullets as the mob dispersed.

They bound three herders and killed over 600 goats with guns and knives, causing about 3000 dollars in losses. The manager, M B Irving, a Chicago native and widow, is an author.
