Rail rate cut and three railroad presidents meet at Davenport

Grain rates will drop by an estimated one to two cents per bushel for grain from the East to Spokane benefiting this year's crops. A crop road will connect Central Washington to the Great Northern line, costing about 360000 and eighteen miles long. Three railway presidents hosted a unique meeting at Lincoln county's Davenport with farmers and delegates present, including James J. Mann and A L Mohler.

Mysteriously Shot Woman in Woodland Wisconsin

Ida Ullman was shot while walking home near Woodland on August 6. The bullet lodged near her right ear and she fell unconscious. A passerby helped summon medical aid as doctors work to remove the bullet, with no motive or shooter identified.

Beating and Robbery Report From Deadwood Falls

Thomas Walton of Deadwood Falls was beaten and left on a railroad track after a robbery of nearly a hundred dollars. Suspects Robert Powers of Denver and James H. McCoy of Sheridan, Wyoming are jailed. Walton shot Powers in the hand during the attempt. Also reported missing in Duluth is Howard Sharp of St Paul, a Collier’s Weekly canvasser, last seen Feb 20 at an unlisted Baltimore house.
