Equity Exchange Accused of Fraud in North Dakota

Fargo authorities seek annulment of the Equity Co operative Exchange charter and appointment of a receiver for the grain firm alleging insolvency. The state cites false reports, fictitious grain sales, improper commissions, misrepresentation to stockholders, and illegal control by an executive committee. Defendants include President J M Anderson and Secretary A M Thiel of Fargo and Sales Manager George S Loftus of St Paul. Liquor Case Transferred to Federal Court in North Dakota

Fargo April 27 with bond filed by Northern Pacific Railway attorneys and order signed by JudgePollock the state suit brought by North Dakota Attorney General Linde to restrain liquor shipments into the state moved from state court to the U S district court. Leased School Lands Tuesday in County Leasing

Gilbert Haugen deputy land commissioner of Bismarck led the day’s leasing of county school lands. About fifty quarters were offered with bids reaching up to 80 dollars annually, while some parcels leased for 12 to 25 dollars. Lands not sold June 11 will be leased for one year, with early payment giving first leasing chance.

Odd Fellows Celebrate 96th Anniversary Lodge Event

John Bunny of the Movies Dead

New York reports the death of John Bunny a famed moving picture comedian at his Brooklyn home after a three week illness. Once a stage comedian he rose to fame in Vitagraph stock company films and on vaudeville tours though his movie work remained his lasting legacy. He was known for Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night and was a world renowned screen artist.

Judge Kneeshaw Dismisses Knauf Seiler Buck Case

Jamestown North Dakota April 22 Judge W J Kneeshaw today dismissed the Knauf Seiler Buck proceedings against the state board of control finding relators failed to establish a case. The injunction against construction at the asylum is dissolved delaying occupancy and prompting the board to hasten completion. The case follows prior legislative action exempting the board and reflects a political shift during Governor Hanna’s administration.

Special to the Graphic reports Exposition Grounds San Francisco April 27 over two thousand guests attended the North Dakota exhibit at the baked potato feast Pres Richter of the NA Editorial Association and Sec Holbein hosted. Southern California Editorial Association visitors joined the event. The Dakota Boys will be guests of honor tonight at a bid feed by the San Francisco Press Club. The potato day is a strong advertisement for North Dakota.

Fire devastates Dubuque lumber yards causing large losses

Fire of incendiary origin swept through four sites in the Carr Ryder and Adams lumber yards in Dubuque Iowa early today. Property losses were estimated at 225000 with arrests expected. A Y McDonald the Key City Gas company and other holdings sustained damage.
