Horse Thief Charles Winfred Arrested at Portal
A Montana horse thief known as Charles Winfred was arrested Friday in Portal by Ward county deputy sheriffs and taken to Minot. Sheriff Griffith of Valley county brought him to Glasgow on Saturday to stand trial. Winfred, linked to several Montana horse thefts last year, had an active warrant since December.

Rooney Held In Ward County Jail
Pat Rooney, who escaped the Williams county jail twice, was arrested in Winnipeg last week and will be brought to the state if requisition papers are not demanded. An order by Judge Goss places him in Ward county jail with a strong guard to prevent further escapes. He was linked to the assault on Jerry Thompson east of the city and the leg shot. His two companions were tried here, convicted, and are serving sentences in the state pen.
