Hedderich Building Contract GallS for New Store by Sept 1 1917

Williston to replace Hedderich store with a daylight 75 by 140 foot building. Construction to start May 6 with a $65,000 general contract to W. W. Horton. The four department space includes dry goods, ladies wear, men’s furnishings, and a 40 by 60 grocery section. Two rest rooms and a modern basement plus 19 second-floor suites form part of the plan. Williston leaders praise Hedderichs faith in the city and foresee a major downtown expansion.

School Boys to Plant Town Gardens for War Time Drop

City wide effort mobilizes hundreds of school children and girls into a patriotic Garden Club to convert vacant lots into productive gardens. Local banks, boards of education, and city officials back the plan with sponsors and support to secure seeds and plowing. Bishop Tyler to Lead Episcopal Services in Bishop City

Local Grocer John M. Jones Found Dead at Home

John M. Jones a grocer in the city was found dead at his residence last Friday. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Methodist church. survivors include his son E A Seace, his daughter Mrs Manford Webb, and his wife formerly Miss Ethel Young.

Williston high school students presented Close to Nature in four acts under Miss Mildred Ekblad in a commendable performance. The cast included Lavasso Wellman played by Paul Carpenter and Barbara Wellman by June McChesney, with support from Ted by Mary Batten and others.
