Cooperation Keynote At Citizens Institute Session

The final session of the two day Citizens Institute under the Commercial Club and University of North Dakota faculty was held at the Library Auditorium. Senator Overson opened with a luncheon for about sixty civic leaders, then President McVey urged cooperation to boost community progress, proposing a public rest room for country women and a men’s reading room, and advocating adoption of The Williamsport Plan to attract local industries.

Union Had a Social Evening at the Library

The Williston Choral Union held a pleasant social evening at the Library on Monday after a brief business meeting. Ten new members were voted into active membership and an informal musical program followed along with refreshments. The committee, Mrs Champion, Mrs Asen, and Mr Kelley, organized the event. Regular choir work resumes next Monday with Maunder’s Song of Thanksgiving planned.

Senior Class Stages Updated Merchant of Venice

Gates Hall hosts the senior class production of The Merchant of Venice with a well staged performance and strong cast. The night includes school orchestra numbers and solo vocal pieces by students including Miss Baldwin Miss Wheeler and Miss Rawson with a full crowd applauding the efforts of the cast and football rote players in supporting roles.

Marshall Defends Williston Bowling Title In 25 Game Contest

In a twenty five game series at the G N alleges Williston champion bowler C L Marshall defeated W J Kelley. Marshall led by 221 pins at start of final series, won 17 of 25 games, high score 240 in opening game of last series. Spectators packed the lanes as scores and margins swung through five game sets.

Financier J Pierpont Morgan Dies in Rome

Rome reports the death of J Pierpont Morgan, famed American financier, at the Grand Hotel at 12 05 p m local time. He had recently suffered a coma in Egypt and failed to swallow, ending a life of vast influence over finance, art, and philanthropy. Born April 17 1837 in Hartford he amassed a fortune and controlled vast wealth at the apex of his power.

Williston Citizens Endorse Five For City Offices

A Williston meeting at the court house endorsed five candidates for city commissioner and mayor under the Commission Plan to be elected Monday. A. L. Burdick presided as the meeting approved the prior committee choice and urged a non partisan campaign. The slate includes Thomas F Craven for president and John Bruegger Jos Wegley E C Carney and J H Cooper for council seats.
