Fire destroys occupied Willard house in 1935 blaze
In February 1935 a Willard house on Fink Street burned completely with the origin undetermined. A father and his four children escaped via a window onto a shed roof before neighbors called the department. The home, insured for 2500 with 1000 in contents, was left a total loss. Fire Chief L C Williams brought in a district fire marshal for investigation. Also in February, Ernest Wolff opened a new Willard law office on the second floor of the Barber block. Firefighters and neighbors battled a Greenfield Road farmhouse blaze, with attic damage and extensive water damage to lower rooms, requiring rebuilding of the upper structure.
