Ohio State Patrol warns drivers on snowy winter roads
The Ohio State Highway Patrol warns drivers of dangerous winter conditions with tips to extend safety. From December 2012 to March 2013, 18,779 crashes occurred on snow and ice, 42 killed and 5,253 injured, with 56 percent speed-related. Drivers should allow extra time, maintain distance, avoid bridges, and drive slowly. If stranded, use hazards, move off road, call 677, and stay in the vehicle. Ensure battery, coolant, tires, wipers, and defroster work, and carry a winter kit including phone charger, flares, first aid, blanket, shovel, water, candles, and tow strap. Huron County Junior Fair weighs in cattle for 2014 show
Huron County held its annual Junior Fair Market Beef Weigh-in on December 7 at the fair grounds. Seventy-one head were weighed and tagged across beef steers heifers and dairy beef steers for 38 exhibitors, with weights from 449 to 1075 pounds. Exhibitors must submit Bred Born & Raised qualification forms by January 15, 2014. The Huron County Fair is scheduled August 11 through 16.
