Beating From Front Page Victim Airlifted To Toledo Hospital
A 19 year old male, Austin Thornton of near Dayton, was assaulted in Bellevue area with an impact weapon. He was airlifted by Life Flight to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo in critical condition after surgery. Detectives say Tyler Smith is the primary suspect and a confession was obtained. Officers recovered the weapon from a roadside ditch and believe it connected to the crime. The investigation involved multiple deputies and police from Bellevue and Sandusky County with cooperation from Huron County. Family members have traveled to Toledo to be with Thornton as the case develops and charges may change with his condition.
