Exhibits Will of 1804 Roy Cook Bequeaths Eldest Son Horse
Roy Cook of Whitewright en route to Ardmore Oklahoma yesterday showed the 1804 Robertson County Tennessee will made by his great great grandfather. The will bequeaths a sorrel horse and saddle to the eldest son, cash and a brindle cow to the daughter, the plantation to the wife, and funds secured by a mortgage to a boy, with other bequests to an overseer and trusted servant. The probate filing notes the testator died three weeks after drafting. The relic is a rare pre Civil War document noted for its phrasing.
