Detroit report says Frank Perry marked his 100th birthday after a doctor's prognosis of twenty more years following eye surgery at age 79. He asked for 21 to reach 100, and the doctor agreed, delivering on the timing with the Sunday celebration.

A fire originating in the bur machine at the Donigan Gin Wednesday morning caused several thousand dollars in damage before the blaze was controlled by the fire department. Until a new bur machine is installed no cotton can be ginned, though some cotton is being unloaded in the cotton house for ginning when the gin resumes operation.
Marshall Formby chairman of the State Highway Commission announced Texas will invest $1 billion in road construction over the next three years. About $300 million is slated for next year on interstate state and U S highways and farm to market roads.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Worth for 68 year old Clif ford H. Jacks who died Sunday after a brief illness. He was a Ladonia native and Fort Worth resident since 1924, a Scott Bros. Grain Co. salesman, and Handley Baptist Church member. Surviving are his wife four brothers and three sisters. His son James Jacks was killed in World War II service.

About 8 p m Sunday five people were injured in a two car collision at Bond and Spruce. Mrs Harold Johnson of Sherman suffered a fractured pelvis and other injuries and was hospitalized in Sherman. Three of her four children were hurt with two thrown from the car. none seriously. James Bellows of Garland drove the other car. Delilah Murphy a passenger in that car sustained arm and shoulder injuries. Mrs Johnson is niece of Mrs Johnnie Johnson and Mrs Minnie Fae Ingram of Whitewright.
