Locally Miss Dorothy Hamilton visited Dallas. Mrs. Frank Hanna toured Oklahoma City. Mrs. F. M. Echols visited relatives in Wichita Falls and Quanah. Several others traveled to Slaton Wilson Oklahoma City and Dallas for weekends and family visits.
Rev C W Dennis will preach at Orangeville next Sunday at 9 45 A M with strong community attendance urged. Area residents and visitors welcomed to the service and to a note on local happenings.
Mrs J B McCord of Terrell is visiting Miss Mildred Holcomb. Mrs McCord was formerly Miss Golia Carter of this city. D F Low, Katy agent, left this week for Chicago to attend the Century of Progress. He will visit his old home in Iowa before returning to Whitewright.
Elder W N Carter of Terrell visits his 96 year old father J N Carter who suffered a stroke. Parachutist Gene Lee to attempt a 60 mph flaming board stunt Saturday. J A Blanton and family move near Methodist Church. others relocate homes. Manley Thomas returns from Los Angeles to care for his ill mother Mrs E O Thomas in Sherman. Community updates include school opening at Canaan, new principal Lonnie Ricketts, and Mrs Jesse James. Ladies Aid meets due to district convention. Mrs E O Thomas shows slight improvement in Sherman hospital status. About 20 local students will attend college next week. Sun to publish list. Revival in Red River County yields 27 additions. Community gatherings feature a Methodist Rummage Sale on Sept 15 and a silver tea Sept 20. A Rotary Club outing to Bonham prompts Bells joke about Milwaukee's history.
Miss Tommie Chenoweth opens fall music studios in the schools offering instruction for pre school through grade twelve. Enrollment is available immediately for class and individual lessons.
The Preston Everheart Post of the American Legion will hold a called meeting at the legion hall Friday night September 14. All members are urged to attend. Regular meetings will be on the second and fourth Friday nights until further notice.
The Methodist Sunday school hosts a social on the church lawn at 7 30 P M for all members and friends. Everyone is urged to attend in Whitewright and surrounding community. Superintendent notes do not forget the date September 10.
The third Sunday Northwest Fan nin County Singing Convention will be held at the Enterprise church northeast of Whitewright. Visiting singers will participate in the program as announced.
The girls of the Mahurin 4 H Club met at Miss Ola to Fife home for their September opening. They reviewed business, heard Julia Ann Pritchett report on earning a trip to A M College, and worked on foundation patterns before a two course dinner hosted by the hostess and her mother.
