Whitewright joins Denison in opening a six day Diamond Jubilee as a caravan of 100 plus autos led by Sheriff Prestage and Deputy Blanton departed at 8 a.m. The two mile parade was the best in North Texas with a Whitewright float and Miss Janis Jane Horton riding in the Elks float. A luncheon at the Denison Hotel followed the parade with praise from Roy Blanton and Booster Club support. About 1,000 people from Whitewright attended the event.

HOUSTON Texas State Prison Board began a new era to modernize the system after a member stated there are more crimes inside the prisons than outside. W C Windsor was elected chairman with Bronson Morgan as vice chairman and T R Havins as secretary. Acting Chair J E Wheat urged discharging ineffective staff and opening the system to publicity. The board planned a prison tour for newsmen within 60 days.
