Betty Blackerby of Whitewright High School earns a free eight day trip to the National 4-H Club convention in Chicago November 27 to 29. She is one of twelve Texans to win the honor, traveling with four sponsors from Fort Worth on November 26. Norman Harper, eighth grade, also wins 30 dollars in the Sears Roebuck Foundation contest for a flock of 100 chickens and top honors in a fourteen county contest at Whitewright High School.

Former Grayson College Teacher Dies Near Denison
J. R. Westbrook aged 77, former Grayson College teacher and Texas legislator, died at his Oak Grove home after 16 years of illness. Born in Alabama in 1871, he taught at Grayson College and Mt. Vernon, served in the Legislature from 1920 for six years, and held Precinct 2 on the Grayson County Commissioners Court. Surviving are five sons, a daughter, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Denison with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
