Tom Bean Culture Club Meeting Highlights
The Tom Bean Culture Club met on Friday Oct 15 at the high school Homemaking Dept with guest speaker Mrs Kenneth O Neal from Sherman head of Grayson County College art dept and a licensed minister. She spoke on art and life, then painted chrysanthemums and shared how flowers bring beauty and meaning. Plans for a Thanksgiving dinner were discussed. Hostesses were Mrs Barbara Thompson and Mrs Velma Hollensed. refreshments featured fall theme items. There were 15 members and 2 guests. Next meeting is in November at the school cafeteria with Lone Star Gas consultant Mrs Mary Casteel presenting Christmas Creations. The group will visit Mrs Maureen Gants home. Mrs Eva Mullins will be associate hostess.

Mental Health Topic Discussed At PTO Meeting
Dr. Randy Crittenden of the Texoma Regional Mental Health and Retardation Center spoke at the PTO session on changes in mental health concepts over the past five years. He noted mental health includes anything that prevents enjoying life fully as economy stabilizes. James Johnson, PTO president, led a discussion on the upcoming carnival on November 6.

Literary Club Hosts Salad Luncheon and Carnival Plans
The Friday Literary Club met on October 15 at Mrs. Stephen Sullivan’s home with Mrs. W E Wilson presiding. Nineteen members and three guests attended a salad luncheon. Hostesses included Mrs. Sullivan and four others. An honorary member from Denton entertained with piano music. Guests included Mrs. Francis Nicholson and Mrs. Alfred Schwinng. The club discussed a bank parking lot carnival with food booths games a haunted house and bingo to raise funds. Ballot boxes for fundraising input were slow to fill. The next meeting is November 9 to decide fund expenditures including school improvements a van and AV equipment. Special entertainment came from the Tigeretts and members were urged to submit fund ideas. a nursery is provided at meetings.

The Scott family descended from the late Mr. and Mrs. A T Scott gathered Oct 10 1976 in the Oak room of Grayson State Bank for a reunion. Seventy nine grandchildren and great grandchildren plus families attended with members from Fort Worth Irving San Antonio Sherman Waxahachie Paris Burnett Dallas Lake Jackson Howe Cleburne and Whitewright. Miss Marian McMillin Celebrates 80th Birthday in Whitewright
An 80th birthday gala for Mrs. Marian McMillin was held in the Reddy Room at Community Public Service Whitewright. She was honored by nieces and their spouses from Sonora Coleman Junc tion and others, with a gold and white theme, life photos, and awards including 1974 1976 Outstanding Woman of the Year. Mrs. McMillin, born 1896 in Honey Grove, taught in multiple schools and remains active in church and local clubs.
