White Wright gins report 2,377 bales binned by Wednesday night with 317 bales ginned in the past week. Weather helped gathering as nearly the entire crop nears completion, labor shortages easing as fields are prepared for next season.
Dallas residents with more than five tires per car may sell excess tires to the government starting Nov. 22 under the Office of Price Administration tire plan. Inspectors will follow rationing rules and prices, with depot points in nine Texas cities, including Dallas, to build a national rubber stockpile.
Subscriptions for The Sun renewals are promoted as the newspaper keeps old price at $1.50 yearly. Names renewed include Mrs. Geo W Brown Mrs J W Henry G W Ford Clyde Hansard W S Donihoe and many others as the paper seeks to add new subscribers in Whitewright and surrounding areas.
The Glen Earnheart Benefit Association based in Whitewright offers small life policies from 100 to 300 dollars with monthly quarterly or annual premiums. It has paid all claims promptly, holds a cash mortuary fund surplus, was organized in 1938, and operates under State Insurance laws with periodic examinations and bonded officers.

The last quarterly conference met at the Methodist Church as Rev. W. Harrison Baker spoke. Reports highlighted 15 new members, full payment of claims, and several improvements including a Hammond electric organ, thermostat heating, a new educational building, and roof work. The annual conference will be held in Dallas starting Tuesday evening for pastor assignments.
The War Production Board froze all used nylon hosiery and silk stockings held by dealers to direct fabric into government hands for powder bags. Women were urged to save old and discarded stockings as a nationwide collection campaign planned by WPB conservation division.
The Bells High School team faces the Whitewright Tigers in the season opener on Bryant field at 8 oclock Friday night. Local fans urged to support the Tigers and forget the war for an hour or two.
School children closed the streets for a metal collection and gathered over 20 tons of scrap in a single afternoon. Businesses supported with trucks and drivers while youth mobilized to aid the war effort and express opposition to Hitler.
The north circle of the Baptist Church met with 13 present. Officers named for the new year include president Mrs. J. E. Morgan and chairmen for Missions, Bible, personal service, benevolence, educational, periodical, stewardship, publicity, and mission study. General Women’s Missionary Union officers listed with a slate of standing committee chairs. Circle leaders named for multiple circles.
In a regional push nine Southern AAA states will share 40 million dollars to halt soil erosion and land losses. E D White said the program targets higher 1943 wartime farm output, urging focus on war crops, conservation, and efficient use of payments.
The Sun reports on local service members including Lt. Chas. B. Truett stationed in the Solomon Islands and Staff Sgt. Jones Alexander visiting Whitewright from Atlantic City. Others enlist, train, or receive transfers at Perrin Field Davisville and Great Lakes with multiple family mentions and furloughs.
The House passed a measure to outlaw the poll tax as a voting prerequisite by 252 to 84 after a bitter sectional fight over states rights and race. Supporters say enfranchisement extends democracy, while opponents argue it infringes on Southern election control and shapes federal interference.
President Roosevelt urged Congress to cut the selective service minimum from 20 to 18 as part of a manpower strategy. He called for keeping workers in war jobs, using older and disabled workers, more women and youths, and expanding farm and war industry labor to speed victory.
C P Neathery's Cannon store was entered Monday night. Two cases of canned salmon and other canned foods were taken along with between 50 and 60 dollars. Neathery could not state an exact amount. No arrests have been made.
