Whitewright will host Whitesboro in the Tigers first conference game after a 41 to 12 loss to Gaston. Bearcats beat Muenster 14 to 6 last Friday as Whitewright plans a big game against Van Alstyne on October 21 in Whitewright.
A Richmond survey shows most of 41 000 telephone calls had the TV off or couldn’t identify sponsors. Only 20 percent of calls heard a program but 71 percent could not name the sponsor, even when soap brands were inferred.

The Agriculture Department predicts this year's cotton crop at 14 553 000 five hundred pound bales, about 28 000 bales below the September estimate. The October 1 outlook reflects crop conditions and shows a slight reduction from last year. Texas is placed at 4 350 000 bales, down 125 000 from the prior estimate.
