A total of 1 985 bales of cotton had been ginned in Whitewright gins up to Thursday morning, slightly below last year. The region reports two thirds to three fourths of the crop picked while rain halted activity since Wednesday morning. Prices offered include 11.10 cents for cotton and 36 to 38 dollars per ton for cottonseed. Rainfall continued through Thursday, totaling .54 of an inch by 8 am at the city water plant.

Fire of undetermined origin destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. Y. Spindle at 1 o clock Sunday night. The blaze, found well under way, prevented spread to neighboring properties.
