Memorial Monument Gift To S F Fire Victim’s Mother

Mary Bell Savage, mother of William Morton Savage who died aboard the U S S Mexico in San Francisco Bay on September 7, receives a memorial fund check for 222 dollars from ship officers and crew. The body arrived September 14 and was buried September 15 at Vittitoe cemetery. Community members may be invited to add to the fund for a lasting monument. Also noted is a Missionary Society gathering at Mrs G C Bryant’s home with eighteen members and three visitors.

A Sherman oil company gin was destroyed by fire last Sunday morning. The loss was about 10000 dollars and is covered by insurance. The gin was under lease to Clyde Fitch.

Mrs McDaniel Grandma Tillman McDaniel Dies at Home

Mrs. McDaniel Grandma Tillman McDaniel died Monday morning October 6 near Orangeville after forty to fifty years in the area. Funeral and burial were held at Burns cemetery Tuesday. She belonged to the Methodist church and reached about seventy years. Survived by husband and children Bert Burn McDaniel Mrs J N Carter Cora Roberts and Walter McDaniel.
