Youth Injured In Car Bicycle Crash In Whitewright
A youth sustained serious injuries after a car bicycle wreck in Whitewright as local United Way fund drive shows strong countywide support. Whitewright leads the county with $3,000 raised toward a $4,530 goal with two weeks left in the drive.

Cody Tucker 11, son of Mr and Mrs Bill Tucker of Whitewright, remains in intensive care at Parkland Hospital Dallas after a bicycle accident on West Grand. He suffered two broken legs a broken left arm lung problems possible spine damage and possible paralysis. He was a sixth grader at Whitewright Elementary and was returning from the Texaco station his parents operate. The accident occurred near Dr Geers apartment. Whitewright Chief of Police said a highway trooper investigated and no information on the driver was available.

Will Cureton To Speak At Methodist Church
Will Cureton formerly of Whitewright will speak at the First United Methodist Church Sunday at 11 a.m. He is an accountant in Dallas and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cureton. The pastor hands the pulpit to the church lay members each year and Cureton, a former member, was invited to address the congregation during the regular worship service about his Christian convictions and experiences.

High honors graduate duo tied to Grayson County roots
Leonard Alsup, a 1971 Grayson County College alumnus, and his wife Mrs. Lota Frazier Alsup, both TVA Chattanooga staff, earned top degrees from UT Chattanooga and Texas A&M respectively. Lota posted a 3.95 GPA as nuclear geologist. Robert earned 3.74 as nuclear engineer. They married in 1972 and are Grayson County College honor graduates.
