The annual union Thanksgiving service was held this morning at the Baptist Church with Rev. H. M. Cowling of the Methodist Church delivering the sermon. The citywide choir drew members from several churches and the tradition continues with rotating denominations and locations each year.
The Grand Lodge of Texas I O O F will lay the cornerstone of the new 50000 Fan nin County home for the indigent at 3 p m on Dec 6. Grand Master J D Buster announces the ceremony with officials from Dallas Stamford Fort Worth and Paris attending as speakers and a county official delivering the oration. County Judge C A Wheeler extends the invitation on behalf of the commissioners court.
A 33 car train carrying 198 Farmall tractors arrived Monday morning in Whitewright. The shipment, billed to International Harvester’s Dallas branch, was led by B N Roberts of Dallas, son of Mrs A M Roberts, who oversaw the train's stop for about an hour. Local distributors Manning Clark Meador facilitated viewing of the first full Farmall tractor train shipped to Texas.
Sherman reports that Judge John Lee Smith recommends a boost of between 5000 and 6000 in rural school state aid, raising the total to over 20000 for the year after a two week inspection of 47 Grayson schools. Recommendations vary from 150 to 990 dollars, averaging just under 500. The revised report will go to the state department and then to county superintendent George W Acton.
W A Hoskins 55 postmaster at Myra twelve miles west of Gainesville is dead and Allen Teague 48 mail carrier is jailed charged with murder after an altercation in the Myra post office Saturday evening Teague surrendered to officers and was charged by County Attorney J L Gettys Teague allegedly shot Hoskins twice with a .32 pistol Hoskins died Sunday morning Teague had previously accused Hoskins son of firing on him and had visited the county attorney.

A Christmas dinner is planned for December 14 at Mrs Percy Darwin home with each member to bring a covered dish. Date pudding hot chocolate and nut fudge were served at social hour.

E W Williams of Karnes City and Hy Mays of Kenedy fatally shot each other during a domestic dispute at Williams home near Karnes City. Five shots were fired after Mays confronted Williams as he argued with his wife. Williams and Mays left behind widows. Williams had five children, Mays three.
Several residents traveled to Anna on Friday to bring a pound of ing to their pastor Rev. D. T. Knight. Visitors from Sherman and Dallas called on local families Sunday.
