At a city hall meeting spanning churches civic clubs and businesses in Whitewright a community Christmas program and tree were proposed for Friday December 21 A steering committee will form subcommittees raise funds and arrange gifts for local children funded by the Pastors Association with involvement from the Parent-Teacher Association Music Club Friday Literary Club American Legion Rotary Masonic Lodge Boy Scouts schools and local merchants.

Diphtheria Reported Prevalent in Texas
The Texas State Department of Health notes diphtheria is prevalent with sixty five cases last week and fifty six new cases on Monday. Parents of children six months to twelve years should immunize through their family physician to prevent diphtheria. Last year 649 Texas children died from the disease.

Mrs Bird Hill Dies After Long Illness near Whitewright
Funeral services were held at the sister's home, with Rev. C W Dennis presiding. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Born July 22 1860 near Sweetwater Tennessee, she moved to Texas fifty six years ago, married Jim Hill, and lived near Whitewright until his death 28 years ago. Survived by sister Mrs H B Barnette and four brothers Will, Marion, Charley Smith of Whitewright and Lon Smith of Trenton.

J C Parsons Falls and Fractures Hip
J C Parsons, a Whitewright resident, fell at his home Saturday evening and fractured his hip. He was taken to Wilson N Jones Hospital in Sherman for treatment and is reported to be progressing as well as expected for his age. Parsons had a previous left leg amputation from earlier injuries when a horse ran away with a buggy.

Presbyterian Meet Formes Men’s Organization in Denison
A district meeting of Presbyterian men was held at the Presbyterian Church on Monday evening. A new men's organization was formed with Frank Shield as president and officers from Sherman Whitewright and Denison. The next meeting is set for January in Denison. About forty attended the dinner. more than seventy reservations were received. Dr B Wrenn Webb presided with Dr L S Markham delivering a devotional and Dr Matthew H Arnold giving the main address on The Great Affirmation.

Full Gospel Church Builds Tabernacle on Maple Street
Work began Tuesday afternoon on a 28 by 40 feet tabernacle for the Full Gospel Assembly of Jesus Christ Church led by Rev. W. M. Lightford. The structure on East Maple Street beside the Mangrum residence costs about 250 dollars and will be floorless for now. A church committee is raising funds to finish the project as finances allow while services continue at the Grand Avenue and Sears Street location.
