Gladys Marshall seven year old niece of Mrs J H Hudspeth died in Durant Oklahoma last Thursday. She was taken to the family home at Trenton Texas for burial after a visit with her grandmother. Cause of death given as stomach trouble following illness. Durant Okla Democrat reports.
Jim Akers, the newly elected tax collector of Grayson county, has had his bond approved by Comptroller W. P. Lane. The bond, the largest ever in the county, totals 468,115 dollars and covers road and school funds. Akers will assume office on Monday.
Cook and Hampton invite owners to bring five to eight year old horses and mules to their Whitewright barn to sell. They promise fair prices for acceptable stock.
The Cotton Plant was the first newspaper published on Texas soil, debuting in 1829 at San Felipe edited by Godwin B. Cotton. The text notes cotton’s future influence on Texas and suggests prophetic links between the paper’s name and editor’s surname.

An extra freight crew on the Katy to Bonham hauled a 35-car train with 700 horses to Ft Worth. Additional car loads will join and the entire shipment heads to Galveston aboard a waiting ship. A mixed cargo of cotton and horses may sail to a foreign nation, believed to be for the French government for army use.

The group will discuss What Is the Good of the Union Anyway with all attending present.
Hilliard H. Wimpee nephew of the late W. H. Wimpee arrived this week from Rome Georgia and plans to depart within a day or so for West Texas.
Carothers predicts a clear cold start for North Texas through midweek from November 22 to 25 with a moderating trend by the 26th and unsettled conditions on the 27th. A cool wave arrives by Saturday with showers, then clearing and freezing temperatures as the new week begins, per Carothers Observatory Houston November 11, 1914.
