Shotgun Breaks Up Negro Dance at White Rock
A Sunday early morning incident at White Rock six miles northwest of Whitewright ended a negro dance when Frank Craven used a shotgun. About 100 black attendees were present. Arthur Ballard was shot in the back and lungs as he fled. Craven was arrested by Constable Fred Mooty and Deputy Sheriff W. L. McNeely of Sherman.
