Vet Amendment Approved In Whitewright Vote
In the last Thursday election 37 votes were cast in Whitewright with 22 for the amendment and 15 against. The amendment authorizes 25 million in bonds to buy land for sale to war veterans and carried statewide. An error shifted the election date causing about 300000 dollars in taxpayer costs. Gray Son County spent 1700 dollars and each vote cost about a dollar. Local clerks were paid 37 dollars for 37 votes.

Austin J E McDonald commissioner of Agriculture urged farmers to hold their cotton at 40 cents a pound to recover market losses. Three year old Barbara Nell, daughter of Coleman Wright, burned to death when a oil stove exploded destroying the Wright home in Whitewright.
