Texas employers contributed 17 million dollars to the Jobless Fund as the first year of the Unemployment Compensation Act closes. Don Baker of Honey Grove was elected president of the Grayson and Fannin County Presbyterian Men's Club at its quarterly meeting Thursday night at the First Presbyterian Church. Grady Hodges of Whitesboro was elected first vice president, Vivian Riley of Sherman second vice president, and Dick Montgomery of Whitewright secretary treasurer. M. T. Bronstad of Denison was named chairman of the program committee. The next quarterly session will be held in Honey Grove. Sixty seven men attended the Whitewright gathering featuring a dinner, program and business session.

William George McKibbon, 45, a war veteran and paralytic, was sentenced by Judge Thomas White to serve one to ten years in San Quentin for fatally beating his aged mother, Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth McKibbon. The defendant allegedly fought with his mother after she threatened to remove his wheelchair. She died ten days after the beating.
