Lonnie McCartney won Reserve Champion and placed with a main exhibit on Saturday, showing a heifer and competing for breed honors. Jeff Wortham, Kyle Rogers, Joe Riker, Dwight Owens, Bobby Purdom, Lannie Barnes, Mark Woodruff, Mykel Woodruff joined the event, with several exhibitors claiming top weights and placings. Whitewright Pee Wee football caps season 8-0 as the only undefeated team in the league. Coach Bob Purdom notes 112 points for, 28 against, with a 6-0 playoff win over Whitesboro and a first place trophy earned after beating Sadler. Kirk Watson scored the sole touchdown in the Sadler game. The team has 13 straight wins over two seasons after a single defeat last year.

MYF To Sell Lunch Today

Cemeteries Fund Nearing $8,000 in Whitewright
Whitewright’s Cemeteries Improvement fund edged toward $8,000 as donations from $5 to $250 poured in to beautify Oak Hill and City cemeteries. Last week’s gifts added $1,210 to $6,570 previously reported, totaling $7,780, with a notable $250 gift from Addison Vestal of Pittsburgh, Pa. Whitewright cemeteries set closing date for fund drive
Whitewright boards of Oak Hill and City cemeteries set November 30 1977 as the closing date for the Cemeteries Improvement Fund drive. A $10 000 goal aims to fund fencing roads drainage markers and potential water line extensions prior to Whitewright’s centennial celebration in July 1978. So far 7 780 has been raised from 207 donors including gifts from across the United States with contributions as small as 1 and up to 250 dollars.

Tigers dominated Wolfe City 19-0 in Friday night action, rushing 175 to 113 and gaining 115 through the air as Stan Smith surged to 118 yards on 24 carries and a TD. Gary Tillett went 9 of 19 for 115 yards, Jeff Daniels had 66 receiving yards and a TD, while the defense held Wolfe City to 120 yards. A local youth escaped serious injury on Nov. 3 when his 1977 Pinto station wagon collided with a 1969 Impala driven by Gerald Clifton Snuff of Denison at the intersection of South Carter and Hwy. 69 North. Police Chief LeRoy DuQuette reported extensive damage to the Pinto.
