Whitewright observes Armistice Day only by the bank and post office on Monday though Sunday is Armistice Day. Local business houses typically observe six holidays yearly, and have done so for two years: New Year’s Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day.
Herman Musser, former Whitewright star and freshman fullback for East Texas State, is to appear in the Memorial Stadium homecoming clash against Stephen F. Austin. His stepfather Harlie Howell will be an honor guest, with fathers seated behind the Lion bench and wearing matching numbers. The event includes class reunions and activities for ex-athletes, with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
President Truman challenged the Soviet Union to accept a foolproof UN inspection system for disarmament, including atom bombs. He urged a world peace plan with potential force if needed and outlined limits on armed forces and military spending, while noting past Soviet bad faith.

Funeral services for John Roy Taylor Jr., 24, were held at 2 p m Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lee H. Smith and Rev. Ronald Prince officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Lawn Cemetery between Sherman and Denison. He died Friday night from a gunshot wound while trying to stop a fight at Longview. He was born January 20 1927 in Marianna Arkansas and lived in Whitewright and Carthage. Survivors include his wife Norma Wilhelm Taylor a daughter Holly Ann his parents and four brothers among others.
Monday peanut butter and cheese sandwiches fruit salad carrot sticks cookies. Tuesday chicken pie green beans Waldorf salad lemon pudding. Wednesday baked beans with bacon strips beets slaw cornbread deep dish apple pie. Thursday pressed ham black eyed peas spinach doughnuts. Friday fish creamed potatoes lettuce tomato salad baked apple.
Denison Herald state editor and roving reporter John Clift was saluted with a $10 dinner by First Methodist Church of Bells. Clift credited for coverage of the mile of dollars campaign to rebuild the church after a fire last Thanksgiving. About 200 people attended as cold weather moved the event to the school cafeteria with Congressman Sam Rayburn as principal speaker.
Texas received a January draft call for 1,471 men from Washington, more than four times December’s 362. Brig. Gen. Paul Wakefield said the larger calls are expected to continue, raising Texas’ total since Korea began to 31,903 men.
Texas faces a rare November vote on five proposed constitutional amendments. Past turnout in off elections has been low, with 288,000 to 1.18 million eligible voters in recent cycles. Proposals include raising welfare spending limits, funding veteran land loans, extending university permanent funds, creating county retirement systems, and rural fire district levies. A special session could follow depending on welfare ceiling outcomes.

Rep Fred Meridith of Terrell said the House crime investigating committee received little citizen response on narcotics sales to juveniles. A one day hearing is set in Austin Friday and the panel hopes for cooperation and useful information despite few public tips. Some letters from private citizens complained about drug sales to teenagers.
W W Gunn secretary of the Grayson County PMA explains the annual election of community and county PMA committeemen and delegates. Each district elects three committeemen two alternates and one delegate. 12 delegates select the three county committeemen for 1952. Ballots mailed to all operators with two ballots per farm. voting may be by mail or in person on Nov 17 with deadlines Nov 16.
Washington reports a demonstration by housing officials showing leaky hot water taps waste energy and money. The display, part of a National Association of Housing Officers meeting, outlined efficiencies from rodent control to roofing repairs and hot water tank care benefiting public housing budgets.
Joint services at Whitewright and Howe Christian Churches conclude an eight month effort by Denison First Christian to secure an alternate pastor. Rev. Don Riesinger from TCU will rotate duties, preaching at Whitewright on the first and third Sundays and at Howe on the second and fourth. A covered dish dinner followed.
The Training Union Revival ends with a Thanksgiving banquet at the American Legion Home because the church basement is in use by the school. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. with 118 enrolled in the TV revival and about 85 expected for the banquet after three nights of attendance. Gracie Knowlton of Fort Worth directs the banquet. youth choir rehearses at 6:15 p.m. and adult choir at 7:00 p.m. Saturday's zone three teen-age meeting is set for Bethel Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12.
A Sherman meeting on November 13 at 7 30 p m in the 15th District Court room aims to formulate Grayson County livestock improvement program. Sponsored by the Sherman Chamber of Commerce, the event is open to all interested parties.
Pastor R L Hamm announces an old fashioned holy ghost revival at the Assembly of God Church beginning Sunday November 11. Services will run daily at 7 30 p m with evangelist Mrs M M Hammock. People from all churches and unaffiliated are invited to attend.

Portland woman laid up after a homecoming hug from Cpl. Wallace Leavitt, 22, a Korea veteran from Pine Camp New York. She expects six weeks of mending. The text also mentions about 3,000 farmers growing trees in the American Tree Farm System.
Whitewright Tigers travel to Bryant Field for a Friday night conference game against Cooper at 8.0pm. After two tough road losses in cold and rain they seek a rally as the conference race tightens with Honey Grove and Farmersville ahead.
The Presbyterian Church hosts a Family Night on Thursday November 8 featuring visiting Presbytery specialists and filmstrips for officers teachers parents youth and children. A congregational meeting precedes it at 6 45 p m to adopt the 1952 budget and clear business.

The Bendandi Observatory in Faenza announced a 30 centimeter rise across the Po Valley spanning Milan to Bologna and the Alps to the Apennines. The movement began 16 days ago and is described as a rare deformation of the earth surface not caused by an earthquake, with no expected effect on the Po River flow.
